Coombe Trenchard House

Beautiful Arts & Crafts Edwardian house in wonderful gardens overlooking Dartmoor

Who are we...

We are Sarah and Philip Marsh.

Nestled in the rolling hills of West Devon, Coombe Trenchard offers a wedding setting like no other. This private Country House is situated within over 100 acres of woodland and parkland. At every turn stunning views can be enjoyed of the wooded Lew valley and beyond to Dartmoor or within our grounds where ornate pieces of our Edwardian heritage feature throughout the formal gardens.

This Grade II listed building, inspired by the Arts & Crafts era, provides a selection of magnificent backdrops for your special day. Coombe Trenchard is fully licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships in a choice of 11 locations, including the paneled Grand Hall with high vaulted ceiling, where your guests can be seated either on the ground floor or view from the minstrels gallery above. Alternatively, ceremonies can be located outside below the beautiful Italianate Clock Tower on the large South facing terrace.

We strive to be as environmentally friendly and aware as possible here at Coombe Trenchard. In 2009 we planted a mixed indigenous woodland on 15 acres and have incorporated within it wild life-friendly areas, log piles and natural ponds together with bird & bat boxes. We produce our own electricity and hot water using Solar PV and Solar thermal, and open fires and stoves are fueled using our own timber. We grow a large quantity of our own produce, and each year Sarah’s cutting patch provides jugs of fresh cut flowers which are used to decorate the house.

Clients Say...

"Coombe Trenchard house and gardens were just the most amazing setting for our wedding ceremony and reception – I can’t stop looking at our photos! The triple height Hall with its wooden paneling, ornate doors and impressive fireplaces was beautiful yet surprisingly intimate. We exchanged our vows on the entrance steps in the Hall, which acted as the perfect stage to be observed by our family and friends." - Laura Mingozzi
